Dear friends, who may know
friends who are 13 to 18 years old!
An exciting art and
environmental project has been on the drawing board
and in the planning stages throughout the fall and
winter months, and we are PLEASED to finally get the
word out about this new opportunity for teens in the
Grand Traverse and Leelanau County areas!
The Neahtawanta Center and
Little Artshram Puppet and Mask Theater have developed
an Artist Apprentice Program, where teens can apply
for an apprenticeship position with the Council of All
Beings-Earth Day Project 2001. Project artists, Penny
Krebiehl and Hughthir White will work with teens in a
mentoring relationship, offering training in mask and
puppet making, dance and theater improvisation,
creative writing and storytelling, stilt-walking and
more! Apprentices will experience how art and
environmental activism enhances and benefits the
community and will re-invigorate their connection to
the natural world in a fun way.
Little Artshram Puppet and Mask
Theater will conduct the Artist Apprentice Program at
the Leelanau School in Glen Arbor. The Project is
scheduled to begin on February 22nd, with applications
available now, for the 10-15 Artist Apprentice
Positions. The teens who are given apprentice
positons will assist in FREE INTERGENERATIONAL
Workshops open to ALL AGES, in March and April, prior
to our Grand Earth Day Celebration!
Please contact us for additional
information and an Artist Apprentice Application or
download one here.
We'd love to share more
information with you about this project! Please
contact us at this email address, or you may call
Hughthir and Penny at 231-228-3493.
Peace!

Neahtawanta Center and
Little Artshram are working to develop a
mult-disciplinary, environmental art program that
offers exciting learning opportunities to youth, 5
years and older and to the Greater Grand Traverse
Community as a whole, through The Council of All
Beings-Earth Day 2001 Celebration. This four (4) month
long visual and performing art project and The Council
of All Beings has a main purpose of enhancing human
commitment and resources for preserving life upon our
planet home.
Through residency programs in
local schools and organizations, a series of free
public Intergenerational Workshops, and an Artist
Apprentice Program for teenage youth, this project
will culminate with a community-wide celebration on
Earth Day, April 21, 2001.
We are asking for contributions
of supplies, materials and gifts of money to help
bring this project beyond it's planning stages and
into production. If you would like more information
about being a sponsor and donor for this project,
please get the form here.
