NEAHTAWANTA CENTER
10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
JUNE 21, 1987 -- 1997

It's important to take a break from our busy lives and honor the passage of time--to reflect on where we've been and re-articulate where it is we're headed. To this end we will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Neahtwanta Research and Education Center with an all-day (and night) gathering on the Summer Solstice, June 21 (we actually launched the Neahtawanta Center on June 21, 1987, along with Bob and Sally's wedding) at the Inn. We'll drag out our old copies of Synapse, share stories and reminisce about past activities and events.

The issues we work on--environmental destruction, global warming, war, nukes, etc.--are serious, depressing and, at times, overwhelming. The key is to try not to take ourselves too seriously. So, we have decided to create a historical skit to help us laugh as we remember (see Bronwyn's article on this page).

A celebration like this is an opportunity for healing. We're the first to admit we've made some mistakes along the way, so if we've stepped on your toes at some point, we invite you to come out and mend fences with us.

This is also a chance to do some visioning for the next 10 years and beyond. We face serious environmental and societal problems and extensive planetary suffering in the coming years. Our challenge is to find ways to respond effectively, to articulate the message of sustainability, to nurture creativity and hope, and to spread love and healing. As individuals we are limited--but together we can make a difference. We invite you to join us in re-creating a vision for the Neahtawanta Center. We're evolving...

Please Help Us Remember

The 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Neahtawanta Research and Education Center is fast approaching. Celebratory events out at the Inn on Saturday, June 21st will include a lively skit, ÒThe Neahtawanta FilesÓ, highlighting momentous events in the history of the Center. However, because so very many people have contributed to both its growth and evolution, we are appealing to YOU for any historical anecdotes or memories Ñ funny, tense, dramatic, cathartic, revelatory, peaceful, healing, daunting, loving, zany, or otherwiseÑ that you might have. Please jot them down and beam them in via snail mail, e-mail, or fax . . . mental telepathy is fine too. ÒThe Neahtawanta FilesÓ will grow and acquire a life of its own from your collective memories and welcome participation. We look forward to hearing from you!! -Bronwyn Jones Neahtawanta Center Board Member. Postal mail:
