Dear Friends:
Future generations will look back and regard this time period as one of upheaval, shifting priorities and adjusting to the limits of a finite planet. For all of us living through this time, it's challenging and perplexing as well as promising and hopeful.
Our work at the Neahtawanta Center is part of this reshaping process. This year, we launched a new initiative based on the concept of resilience. We are joining our efforts with many individuals and groups around the world who view resilience thinking as the next step towards sustainability; a framework that includes adapting to changes on individual, community and global levels. See more details accompanying this letter.
We appreciate your support—from those of you who have joined with us over the past 22 years, to our newest members who have just discovered us. We value our connection with each of you, regardless of the size of your donation. If you can't support us monetarily this year, please send back the card anyway, letting us know that you still want to stay connected and informed.
If you are able to send us a tax-deductible donation for the coming year, it will help us with the work.
Visit our description of the current projects where we are focusing our energy as are so many of you, personally and financially.
While we value all the media tools available to us to help spread our message, nothing can replace being together in person! The Center is housed at the Neahtawanta Inn, which we manage and care for, and has used the Inn over the years for workshops, meetings, retreats, parties and potlucks—to bring the community together for support, commiseration, encouragement, planning, celebration and education, as well as to serve as a tranquil place for personal reflection and restoration. Helping to build a strong, vibrant local community is one of our most important roles, one that involves all of us, even as we at the same time help build the larger global community. Thank you for your continuing participation!
Peace,
